WEBVTT Greetings everyone and welcome to the overview for your Security Plus series here at ACI. I will be one of your hosts, Daniel Lowry in the endeavor for you. Get through this lovely little series. I'll be joined by Mr. Anthony Sequero. We'll take a few minutes here to introduce ourselves. I'm again, Daniel Lowry. Hi, nice to meet you. I have a few security certifications, one being CYSA Plus from CompTIA as well as Pentest Plus. I have CEH certified as well. Man, I've been doing this for over 20 years now. Anthony, how long have you been in the business? I've been in the business since 1996. It's been a long time for me and like Daniel, a bunch of the CompTIA certifications under my belt. It was really fun to team up with Daniel with some of the episodes because I realized it after the fact, I've always been more kind of blue team and Daniel's been more red team. So it was great to have kind of have those two angles approach to it. Notice I'm in the wrong shirt color for this episode. That's okay. We also have one more, which is Wes Bryan. You'll probably see Wes as well as you work your way through the series. So he's a very smart man. I didn't have enough room or microphones for him today, but though what are you going to do? Right? Don't worry. You'll see him and you'll be like, man, this guy knows his stuff. CompTIA is certified at all over the place as well. I've been teaching security plus for, I couldn't tell you how long the guy is a veritable cornucopa of information when it comes to the security plus. Now that being said, Anthony, one of the questions we'd like to answer in the overview is what's in it for the viewer? Why would they want to watch this series? Yeah, I think this series CompTIA always does such a great job in the breadth of material that of course makes it challenging to train. And as Daniel alluded to, it was a joint effort of myself, Wes and Daniel. And so, so great to have so many incredible topics that we were able to present in depth for students. So I really look at this as the most comprehensive security plus anyone could take. I would have to agree with you on that. We spent a lot of time and effort making sure that we don't just discuss the concepts, but we actually, when we can get some practical hands on, I'll show you some demonstrations, really kind of put some meat on the bone, as it were, to those theories that are out there for security. Now that said, could you also walk us through a little bit of how the course is structured and some of the things around that? For sure. So there are five domains that we needed to explore with our students. And it began with general security concepts. These are important. It is very important to be able to speak the language of cybersecurity. So in the general security concepts, we'll walk you through what these most important terms are today and what they mean. We then dive into man, oh man, the most exciting part for me to watch is going to be Daniel's section on threats, vulnerabilities and mitigations. Because as Daniel alluded to, he's so great at showing you this technology instead of just talking about it theoretically. Then we move into one of my areas and that's the security architecture. How can we design our network environments, our application environments, so they are more inherently secure? The next domain is security operations. Wes will guide you through those day to day, week to week, month to month, quarter to quarter, annual type activities that you want to be engaged in to keep yourself secure. And then it all wraps up with security program management and oversight. Not typically the most exciting area to study when you talk about procedures and guidelines and governance, but I think you're going to find we made it really fun and engaging. Yeah, absolutely. We spend a lot of time. We work really hard to make sure that this is not something you just want to fast forward your way through, but it's really grabs your attention so that you can understand and assimilate this knowledge. That's it. Could you take just a minute to kind of give us an idea of the exam? What's it like to sign up for the exam? Some of the details around the exam itself. For sure. This exam follows that common CompTIA format of about 100 questions you can anticipate and some of those questions are going to be performance based. So as Daniel alluded to, when we do demonstrations of key technologies, that is so important because you are going to be doing more than multiple choice in this exam. Now, there are no official prerequisites for this exam, but those of you that have network plus you're having a great head start because there's a ton of networking we'll discuss those of you that are A plus certified. That's a great thing to have behind your belt under your belt. So no official prerequisites, but the more of our introductory training that you might have would be for the better. All right. Well, this is great. I'm super excited about getting into this series. It's a lot of fun to make, so hopefully you enjoy it as well. I know Anthony feels the same way as so does Wes. So if this sounds like something that's interesting to you, well, we look forward to seeing you in the upcoming series.
