Secure Windows On-Prem and Hybrid Infrastructures

Secure Windows On-Prem and Hybrid Infrastructures Overview
In today's fast-paced IT landscape, securing your Windows on-premises and hybrid infrastructures is paramount. This course will provide guidance and process to provide a robust security strategy that begins with fortifying the Windows Server operating system against both internal and external threats, ensuring that only authorized users have access and that their actions are monitored and controlled. For organizations leveraging a hybrid Active Directory infrastructure, synchronizing and securing identity management becomes critical, with Azure AD offering seamless integration to provide a unified identity across on-premises and cloud services. Azure services bring to the table advanced security remediation tools that proactively protect, detect, and respond to threats in real-time, keeping your infrastructure one step ahead of malicious actors. Moreover, securing Windows Server networking is about more than just safeguarding data in transit; it's about implementing robust access controls, encrypting traffic with up-to-date protocols, and continuously monitoring for unusual activity. Lastly, Windows Server storage solutions must be locked down with encryption, resilient file systems, and access policies that protect data at rest.

WEBVTT Welcome and thanks for joining us for this overview for a course on securing Windows on-prem and hybrid infrastructures. I'll be your host for this course. My name is Sophie Goodwin and I'm an edutainer here at ACI Learning. You may have seen me hosting some other courses, mainly cybersecurity stuff, but we're going to be delving into the world of Microsoft here in this course. I'm certified in cybersecurity through ISC2, and I'll be asking questions along the way. For those of you that might have questions at home, I'm going to act as a learner advocate for you all. Of course, with me, we've got a special guest for this module, Charles Pluta is going to be teaching this course for us. Charles, tell us a little about yourself. Thanks, Sophie. Hey, everyone. My name is Charles Pluta. I'm a Microsoft Certified Trainer. I've been in the IT industry for about 15 years, and I've been a MCT, a Certified Trainer for about 10 of those. So happy to talk to you today about this module. We're going to be mainly covering securing the Windows Server, both in an on-prem and a hybrid environment. So we've got a few different scenarios to go through. We're going to be talking about things like encryption, the Defender Firewall, identity, and hybrid identity with on-prem Active Directory, as well as Azure Active Directory or what's been rebranded as IntraID. Okay. So we also got a little bit of insight into what we're going to be learning in this course. So looking ahead at this module, that's some of the things you can look forward to. Then of course, we always want to ask just for people that are watching this and maybe they're not quite sure, if they're ready to jump into this course, is there any prerequisite knowledge we need to have going into this? Yeah, it would definitely be helpful if you're already familiar a little bit with Windows Server, just the basics of how to log in, manage, create user accounts, create a directory. Some of the things that have been in the operating system now for quite a few years. Then there are Azure components as well. So if you're familiar with Azure subscriptions, Active Directory or IntraID tenants, just some of the Cloud fundamentals. If you haven't been through like AZ 900, the Azure fundamentals course would definitely recommend going through that before jumping into this. Well, all right. Thank you so much for walking us through some of that Charles. I'm looking forward to getting into this module with y'all. Thank you for joining us for this overview, and we'll see you in the course.
