Network Security Fundamentals Overview
In this Network Security Fundamentals module, students will learn the basic concepts regarding network security today. While this module covers broad concepts and technologies like key security concepts and security program elements, this module also does deep dives in specific technologies. For example, students learn to configure technologies like access control lists, DHCP snooping, and more.

(Upbeat Music) Thank you so much for joining Anthony and I in the studio. I'm your host, Lauren Deal, and I'll be your learner advocate as we go along, asking a lot of questions to our expert, Anthony Sequeira. So welcome, Anthony. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Sure. So my name is Anthony Sequeira, and I am really excited to be doing the security fundamentals module because I have been doing security in various capacities since the mid 90s when it comes to networks and computer systems. And I am a full-time trainer here at ACI Learning. So you'll see me and Lauren in the library quite a bit together, teaching various aspects of network security. One of the courses Lauren and I did together was all about securing stuff with Azure. So we tend to teach a lot of cloud security as well. We'll be in this module, really covering a lot of great topics when it comes to security fundamentals, thus the title. And I'm excited about this module specifically because security is obviously very crucial and there's a lot of moving aspects to it, but this is a fundamentals section. So what are we gonna be talking about? Yeah, we're gonna stick to the basics. So we'll be discussing things like what kind of attacks are we gonna see? What can we do inside a corporation to make sure we're prepared for those types of cybersecurity attacks? But if you think this is gonna be a module that just purely stays high level, think again, we will be deep diving and we will be doing Lauren's favorite thing, getting on the equipment and making excellent security configurations. In fact, one of the high points in this module that we'll be doing together is actually configuring firewalls on our equipment. Oh, that's excellent, oh great. Yeah, so we'll be going in and saying things like only this user can come in, all the other users can't. And oh, by the way, the user can only surf the web. So we'll be making access control list configurations as we call them, really a fancy term for a firewall and we'll be building those together in this module along with other specific technologies like, okay, how would we password protect a network device? So we will be deep diving in some areas. This is fantastic because as a learner, we're gonna be walking you through the fundamentals that you need to know, we're gonna be showing you how you can do it with us and you can be following along with notes. And so if you wanna go back and revisit something, obviously you can watch our videos again, but there's notes to support you. And because I'm a learner, who else would be the ideal learner for this? Yeah, so this is a great class for someone that maybe has just completed their A plus or they have that equivalent level of knowledge. In the new CompTIA A plus program, sure you get some basic networking, sure you get some basic security training. This is gonna be a nice way to build upon that level of knowledge. Well, I'm excited. I know that I'm ready to jump in and start learning. So secure some of your time and get ready to watch some of our videos. (Upbeat Music)
